INSANITY ON A GRAND SCALE.

Here are a couple of links.

This second link shows something of the kind of anti-Christian persecution which exists.

The first link above is a very disturbing story about the kind of insanity which man-made religion causes. A Christian woman drinks from a well, she is then commanded to 'convert' to Islam because she has 'defiled' the well. Why? Is her conversion supposed to miraculously clean up the well? Someone then complains to the authorities about her having blasphemed the 'holy prophet' Mohammed. I wonder what she's supposed to have said? It would appear that simply refusing to convert is considered blasphemy. I mean, after all, if you refuse to convert to Islam, is that not a slight against Allah, and therefore blasphemous? I could be wrong, but I think that would fit in with the rest of mad-mullah doctrine rather well.

The question is, why do they choose to believe in something which is so plainly evil?

The scripture tells us this:

AND FOR THIS CAUSE GOD SHALL SEND THEM STRONG DELUSION THAT THEY BELIEVE A LIE. (2 Thessalonians 2:11.)

These words tell us that God's power is behind it. This is God's judgement - Christ's judgement. Whole nations have been sent this delusion - look at what they believe. What an awful thing to be left under such darkness. The next question is, why? I would answer by saying that God is teaching us by experience and example (which is the best way) of the destructive power of sin. The power which rules in every one of us. A question often asked is: 'If God is so good and so powerful, why is there so much suffering and death in the world? I would reply with the same answer - to teach us. Why did Christ come? He came to do and he came to teach. To teach us what? He came to teach us the truth. Why does the Bible exist? It exists to teach us. To teach us the truth.

This is all-important. It is all-important to bear in mind that everything happens to teach us. So that we will ultimately come to know the truth. Remember what the scripture says?

AND YE SHALL KNOW THE TRUTH, AND THE TRUTH SHALL MAKE YOU FREE. (John 8: 32.)

Free from what? Free from sin. Are we any better than the cruel people shown on the clips? The answer is no. Because left to ourselves we have no idea of the wickedness we are all capable of.

We have no idea how evil sin is - not in the slightest. We may think that we have because it is easy to recognise it in certain acts, but it takes God's help to see it in its true colours. To see it in ourselves. Sin is what rules in every one of us, absolutely. The power of God alone, the power of Jesus Christ, can free us from this bondage of not knowing, not believing the truth.

We cannot do it of ourselves - we must ask.

ASK, AND IT SHALL BE GIVEN YOU; SEEK, AND YE SHALL FIND; KNOCK, AND IT SHALL BE OPENED UNTO YOU.

The invisible power of the invisible God - ask for it - today - now.

THERE IS A WAY WHICH SEEMETH RIGHT UNTO A MAN, BUT THE END THEREOF ARE THE WAYS OF DEATH. (Proverbs 14: 12.)

'On the day his body armour stopped the bullet in his back, Collins was unshaven. After that, he never shaved before a patrol, adding that to his superstitious ritual of listening to Linkin Park on his iPod before going out. Underneath his body armour he wore a wooden cross, one of those blessed in Bangor Cathedral and distributed by the chaplain before the tour.'

The above is a quote from an article on the online edition of the Daily Mail. You can read the article via the link below.

The reason I have quoted this is because it gives us a clear example of what is wrong in so-called Christianity today. This God-grieving malaise is exemplified in the so-called 'Christian' department of the British military. Dan was superstitious. Prior to patrols he would play a particular song, avoid shaving and wore a wooden cross which had been supposedly 'blessed' by some fool in a cathedral. Sadly, as we learn from the article Dan went on to take his own life. No one knows what went through his mind in his dying moments. But there is one thing we do know - his superstitious beliefs did him no good whatsoever - only harm.

It is of course not new for those in the military to observe superstitious practices when life and limb are at risk. The famous Red Baron, the highest scoring flying ace of WWI is reported to have always worn the same coat to fly as he believed it to be 'lucky'.

One dictionary definition of superstition is: 'An irrational belief in something.' Superstition has an infinite variety of forms, but the most common would probably be the object-based form like the supposedly 'blessed' wooden crosses already mentioned. We find all manner of statues, trinkets, beads and images in the plethora of man made religions throughout the world. The most well known of all these man made systems being of course, the great counterfeit of Christianity itself, which has a man called the 'Pope' sitting at its head.

Superstition, though a comfort to many, is of course, as the definition above states, irrational - it can only do us harm. The harm it does is that it deceives us. To be deceived is always a bad thing, sometimes lethal. Never more so than in the great matter of our eternal well-being.

My point is that because of the way UK law has evolved legislation has been set in place which forbids the condemning or even criticising of anything which an individual chooses to hold dear. Commonly called 'political correctness' or 'PC' for short.

When I was a serving soldier in Belfast during the troubles I used to pray prior to and during patrols because I feared death. I wasn't superstitious. The reason I wasn't superstitious was because I had been given good advice about God by an experienced Christian relative. Had I never heard the sound advice, I too may have indulged in superstition.

I recently spent just over 3 years in the employ of a nominally Christian organization called SASRA. S.A.S.R.A. stands for Soldiers' and Airmen's Scripture Readers Association. They have a hearty reputation amongst those that support them. But the best view of an organization is always from the inside. They claim to exist to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ to British soldiers and airmen. The trouble is, whatever they once were they certainly don't proclaim the whole gospel now - as I found to my cost.

I enjoyed my work with SASRA, though I did not enjoy the wishy-washy Christianity it brought me into contact with. But I did remind myself that that was why I was there - as hopefully a light in the darkness.

In 2009, I was working amongst the Coldstream Guards in Aldershot, telling them about the Gospel. It was good.

One day as I made my way around the rooms talking to the soldiers as they relaxed or got on with their personal admin I met a Roman Catholic soldier who told me he had a 'Saint Christopher', excitedly adding that it had been 'blessed'. This soldier was in the process of packing his kit to fly to Afghanistan on active service. I was keenly aware of the importance of telling this man the truth because it was obvious that he was placing the trust he ought to have placed in God in the Saint Christopher medallion which his sister had given him. I thought to myself, 'Now, how am I going to put this to him in a way which will not cause offence?'

'Lord, give me grace.'

I told him it was very nice that his sister had given him a present, that it was a nice expression of affection, but that when we speak about the things of God and the things of men we must make a distinction. I told him that it was not possible to 'bless' pieces of metal, that inanimate objects cannot help us draw near to God, that in fact they are impediments - they can only come between us and God. I told him that we have to know God personally, in our hearts - that we must know the invisible power of the invisible God.

We spoke for some time, probably 2 hours and covered a number of things. He seemed happy to talk with me. I remember him saying: 'That's not what I've been brought up to believe.' I was careful to stress to him that I was only telling him what the Bible said and that I believed it to be the word of God. The rest, I said, was up to him - between him and God. I told him that I could not make him believe and was not trying to - that is God's work, not mine.

I thought our meeting had been quite amicable, but it wasn't until some time later that I discovered he had phoned his father the same evening and told him about our conversation. The father's reaction was to pen a letter to the Coldstream Guards' CO bitterly complaining about what I had said to his son. I can only imagine (and hope) that I must have made the son begin to question some of the Roman dogma and that this was probably what incensed his father so much. The CO's reaction was to immediately prohibit me from speaking to any of his soldiers from that moment on. SASRA's reaction was to summon me to appear before a hastily convened kangaroo court. People in SASRA HQ in Aldershot who had always greeted me in the friendliest manner and called me by my first name suddenly treated me like a stranger, addressing me as 'Mr Mackenzie' and instructing me to 'wait there until you are called.' I was shocked.

The first question they asked me was: 'Why did you condemn his Saint Christopher?' I could hardly believe my ears. 'You mean I have to tell you?', I thought.

To cut a long story short, SASRA sacked me for telling the truth. The truth according to the Bible. Strange eh? I was told that I had 'done nothing wrong.' But that they had no choice because the army chaplaincy department would no longer allow me to work with soldiers because of the complaint made against me.

SASRA are all about compromise. They imagine that 'getting access' to soldiers at all costs is the be-all-and-end-all and anything that would seem to put that at risk is a big no-no. So that's the Bible out of the window then. Because if you attempt to preach what God requires you to preach to sinners, like exposing false hopes (which is a vital element of the gospel of Jesus Christ), and a complaint is made (which is inevitable if you are faithful to the truth), you will be expelled. The key thing seems to be: 'Don't upset the apple cart!'

It's fine to hand out superstitious soul-destroying relics like silly wooden crosses, but I get sacked for telling the truth. Is this God's will?

You decide.

THE PROHETS PROPHECY FALSELY, AND THE PRIESTS BEAR RULE BY THEIR MEANS; AND MY PEOPLE LOVE TO HAVE IT SO: AND WHAT WILL YE DO IN THE END THEREOF? (Jeremiah 5: 31.)

THEY HAVE HEALED ALSO THE HURT OF THE DAUGHTER OF MY PEOPLE SLIGHTLY, SAYING, PEACE, PEACE; WHEN THERE IS NO PEACE. (Jeremiah 6: 14.)

P.S. I find in the latest edition of SASRA's magazine the words: 'Derick Mackenzie left us in August...' This is a lie. They kicked me out. Why do they not just write the truth? Why are they so keen to keep this matter quiet?

You decide.

DEAD ORTHODOXY

'He hated dead orthodoxy with a perfect hatred. "The living dog" of an earnest though faulty revivalism was in his opinion better than the "dead lion" of a heartless orthodoxy. Truth no doubt is truth; but the letter killeth: it is the spirit that giveth life. Water is water; but better surely is a cupful from the living well than a pitcherful from the stagnant pond. Dead orthodoxy is but the maker of decent graveclothes for dead souls. At best the teacher of lifeless doctrine is but the master tailor of pharisaism. Some men worship the truth of God instead of the God of truth. Dead orthodoxy is the worship of truth, and is the most subtle of all kinds of idolatry...Our evangelist was grieved to see men splitting hairs while souls were perishing. Are the disciples nodding and sleeping while the cause of Christ is bleeding at every pore? Are men piously wagging their heads because the Lord's work is nailed to a cross? Alas! it is even so.'

THE LIAM AITCHISON MURDER TRIAL IS BEING HELD IN PRIVATE. WHY?

For years it has been illegal to carry a camera into a Scottish courtroom. I remember this from back in the day when I was a press photographer. I used to have to leave the kit in the car and come rushing out just before the end of proceedings to take my photos as the people emerged onto the street. That was allowed - but I had to wait until they were actually off courthouse property. Now, I ask you - what on earth is the difference between taking the photos of the accused/convicted inside or outside the courthouse? Thankfully, these days a glimmer of good sense has prevailed and they are currently considering permitting the televising of court cases. But we have the old problem, that because the status quo is what we've been used to, they they find it nigh on impossible to get out of it - even though they don't know why.

CENSORSHIP
I don't mind telling you - I hate censorship. To quickly define censorship in my own words: censorship is when an individual or group decides that they know best, and deliberately withholds the truth from others.

THE PUBLIC GALLERY EXISTS FOR A REASON
On the one hand, in this country we have a public gallery in every courtroom and the general public are welcome to come in and spectate if they wish. Also the names of the accused/convicted are available in the media. On the other hand, no cameras are allowed, so, of course, viewing proceedings on the TV is out of the question.

In America and other countries it is common practice to televise court cases. In America we had the famous trial of O.J. Simpson all over the TV. In Inverness the trial of two ordinary young men is held in private. 'Private' though, is not the right word, they should use 'secret'.

Why hold it in private - who or what are they trying to protect?

We criticise other countries for doing things in secret, and rightly so - particularly if elections are not held openly and fairly, or if we think they might be making nuclear weapons. We send inspectors to check on them because we don't trust them. We ought to preach by example, and allow justice to be 'seen' to be done as it ought to be - and not be hypocrites.

I much prefer the Biblical method: "...PROVIDE THINGS HONEST IN THE SIGHT OF ALL MEN." (Romans 12: 17); THEM THAT SIN REBUKE BEFORE ALL, THAT OTHERS ALSO MAY FEAR. (1 Timothy 5: 20).

Every detail of the trial of Liam Aitchison's murderers should be completely open for all to see - and televised - it's everyone's right. We all have an interest.

DIVISION

"WITH ALL MY HEART I PROTEST AGAINST WHAT I HAVE KNOWN - MEN RECEIVED WITH ALL WARMTH OF SIMPLICITY, AND QUIETLY LEADING UNSUSPECTING ONES AWAY TO THEIR PECULIAR VIEWS, LEAVING AFTERWARDS A LEAVEN OF DIVISION INJURIOUS IN ITS RESULTS...BLESS GOD FOR SCOTTISH CAUTION; BUT IT IS OFTEN AT FAULT...STEREOTYPED MODES OF ACTION, IF NEED BE, MUST BE LAID ASIDE, AND THE MINISTRY OF THE SPIRIT MUST BE RECOGNISED...ESSENTIALS MUST BE HELD AS WITH A DEATH-GRIP; BUT NON-ESSENTIALS MAY BE SCATTERED TO THE WINDS.

"I ONLY RETURNED A FEW DAYS AGO FROM THE SEA-SIDE...I USED TO SIT AND MARK THE EBBING AND FLOWING TIDE. WHEN IT WAS OUT EVERY INEQUALITY IN THE SHORE COULD BE SEEN, HIDDEN ROCKS WERE LAID BARE, AND THE TANGLE-COVERED BOTTOM EXPOSED. WHEN IN, ALL WAS COVERED. THERE WAS NOTHING TO BE SEEN BUT THE BLUE SEA - THE ONE GREAT OCEAN. SO, WHEN THE HOLY GHOST SHALL PUT FORTH HIS ALMIGHTY POWER, A SUBJECT SUCH AS THIS WILL NOT BE RAISED."

WHAT IS THIS CHRIST-MASS?

It is important to point out that God's word gives us not the slightest idea of the time of year Jesus was born. This is not an accident. The festival which people call Christmas is completely man-made and has no place whatsoever in Christianity.

The event which Roman Catholics call the 'mass' is also completely man-made and has no place in Christianity.

The third commandment states: "Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain..." This means that to use the name of God in any way which he has not sanctioned is presumptuous and sinful, even blasphemous.

The Christ-mass festival has its origins in ancient paganism where revelry, gluttony, drunkenness and gift-giving was celebrated. Of course in those days it went by a different name.

It's nice to have a time of year when everyone is on holiday and comes together to have meals and socialize, but we err greatly if we try to drag God's name into it and turn it into a pseudo-religious festival.

By all means, give presents, eat well, enjoy - but please - let's leave God's name out of it - unless it's according to scripture.
